THE challenge
Middle Country CSD needed a complete overhaul of their district-wide security infrastructure. Their existing systems were fragmented, aging, and increasingly difficult to manage. The district prioritized a unified solution that would enhance visibility, support lockdown protocols, and lay the groundwork for future upgrades, all while ensuring safety for students, staff, and visitors across every building.
Our Approach
Galaxy Integrated Technologies partnered closely with the district to design and implement a fully integrated system that spanned over a dozen school buildings and athletic facilities. The upgrade included:
- Over 500 new Axis IP cameras covering interiors, exteriors, and athletic fields
- Over 100 electronic access control doors with integrated credentials
- A new district-wide Milestone video management system for live and recorded footage
- A virtualized S2 access control server tied into Active Directory
- Creation of district-wide maps, user roles, and permission levels
- Staff training at all levels from greeters to administrators
We also integrated the security systems to provide a common operating picture across departments. Video surveillance, access control, and lockdown functions now work in sync, streamlining daily operations and emergency response.
Lockdown Enablement
To meet New York State safety mandates, we installed 40 lockdown buttons throughout the district. These trigger a coordinated response that includes:
- Over 500 new Axis IP cameras covering interiors, exteriors, and athletic fields
- Door locking and card access restrictions
- Flashing strobes and audible alerts
- Real-time video feed activation
This allows school staff and first responders to act immediately and decisively in the event of a threat.

Staff can retrieve and share video with law enforcement quickly and securely. Access control is no longer siloed, and visibility into building activity has improved dramatically.
